About Megu:

Megu, the finest Japanese concept & Sushi Bar that left an enduring impression on New York’s dining scene, marks its highly-anticipated return reincarnated with a fresh culinary perspective and curated bar presentation, set amidst an evolving cinematic schema that exquisitely harmonizes the art and science of contemporary gastronomy.

Situated in a posh subterranean setting beneath the iconic Dream Downtown, the infinity-mirrored staircase descends into the Kimono Room, Bar and Lounge, reminiscent of a slightly futuristic shoji screen.

To the right, guests are greeted by a scroll-laden suite which offers a front row seat at the sushi bar or private dining room. To the left, the Main Dining Room is framed by a visual tapestry of exotic Asian motifs set against a backdrop of customizable lights and 3-D activated imaging, seamlessly transforming the room as diners indulge their senses. The metamorphosis of refined Eastern cuisine, seductive ambiance, and meticulous service, Megu introduces an unparalleled event and dining experience for even the most discerning of palates.

Mixology Night at Academia with EuroCircle

Some have said  that Academia is pegged as “an Ivy League university of drinking,” and a “figurative faculty lounge for late, great literary icons such as Ernest Hemingway and Hunter S. Thompson.”  Russell Davis, the owner,  was a regular on Spike Network’s Bar Rescue

The custom lighting has been designed by Cirque du Soleil’s technical and lighting director, “using varying colors and brightness to influence moods, trigger memories and evoke emotions”.

So what to expect :  high-ceilings, lots of wood, brick and iron surfaces, Academia is adorned with banners, seals and crests (the kind you might find at colleges). Chalk scrawled on the walls will nod to literary heroes like Hemingway.  What else… there are both lounge areas and long high-top tables with USB ports, for both work and play.

Emma did some in person experiments and loved the cocktails. Join us to taste some – and celebrate Emma’s recovery from plane crash.  We are happy she is OK!
For tonight we have $5 Highballs and $6 Classic Cocktails from 5pm-8pm. Super great specials.

Oh yes, and we asked them to keep the music level LOWER from 6 pm to 8 pm for mingling.
