ABOUT FINLANDIA FOUNDATION NEW YORK
Finlandia Foundation New York Metropolitan Chapter is one of the foremost organizations to further cultural and educational exchange between the United States and Finland. Founded in April 12, 1954 by Reino Aarnio, Jean Pellinen, Britta Simpson and Raymond K. Luomanen as a 501c3 corporation, this foundation is a chapter of Finlandia Foundation® National which, along with its network of chapters and affiliates across United States, is the most important private source of support for Finnish culture in the United States.
Our mission is to sustain both Finnish-American culture in the New York tri-state area and the ancestral tie with Finland by raising funds for grants and scholarships, initiating innovative national programs, and encouraging a vast network of advocates.
By collaborating with Finlandia Foundation National and the extended network of local chapters throughout the United States, our hope is that we inspire and strengthen the Finnish-American community in the tri-state area — strengthening cultural identity in this wonderfully diverse nation for years to come.
Higher Ground is Austin downtown newest social club combining restaurant, bar, and nightclub all under one roof—and to boot.
The space is decorated in Western spiritual artefacts and symbols like a private altar from a Louisiana Victorian home and a nineteenth century organ transformed into an LED-lit DJ booth. Outside, a Juliet-esque balcony boasts panoramic views of Congress Avenue and the Capitol for pre-game TikTok action, while the Sanctuary, an ivy-covered atrium, provides an airy refuge to sip a Seven Deadly Sins cocktail (try Gluttony if you prefer yours on the sweet side).
The food menu hovers on Italian-inspired fare, like prosciutto and cheddar crochette with a savory fra diavolo sauce, shaved fennel and frisée Caesar salad with bacon and pear, and the crispy porchetta Daily Bread sandwich served with arugula, peach mostarda, and traditional basil pesto.
We’ll be taking over the second Floor (steep stairs from the front door or spiral staircase from the back on the first Fl)
