Attention all wine lovers- this one’s for you!

Swirl Wine Bar is a brand new wine bar with a very nicely edited selection of wines that’ll impress even the biggest wine snob- but not intimidate the newbie either- and that’s why we love it!

It’s also super cozy with tons of comfy couches perfect for meeting and mingling with your favorite fellow EuroCirclers- and yes, the badges will be back!

We’ll be featuring $5 Sangria (by the glass) and $7 glasses of the house red or white wines. Swirl also features a great menu with lots of tasty nibbles to accompany your glass of vino!

Maria, our wine expert, prepared a stunning program! We’ll take a boat and cruise on the Danube through Wachau, the UNESCO world heritage site and leading white wine area, enjoy picturesque landscape, taste a few wines, stroll through vineyards and century old cellars and chill out at a traditional “Kellergassenfest”.

10:00 depart from Vienna; meeting point Schwedenplatz (U1, U4)

11:50 board MS Prinz Eugen or MS Wachau in Spitz (Donaustation Nr. 16) cruising down the river Danube through Wachau. Pass steep wine terraces and charming villages.

12:40 get off the boat in Krems/Stein and on the bus

13:00 Lunch at the Prandtauerhof
If the weather is nice we sit in the arcades of the 17th century estate. Otherwise the elegant restaurant is also very charming. The Prandtauerhof has been rated as on of the leading wineries in the country and has also a distillery.

14:30 Visit Wine Estate Gritsch, Mauritiushof
The Mauritiushof is located in the charming center of Spitz and dates back to the 13th century. It perfectly combines the tradition of the ancestors with modern wine styles. Short tour through the traditional winery and cellar incl. tasting (in English).

16:30 Loisium – “The World of Wine”
The wine journey begins in the Visitors’ Centre designed by the American architect Steven Holl and continues underground in the Cellar World. This is a journey through time, through cellars that are around 900 years old, to a modern company that reflects the very latest winemaking techniques. (English/German audioguide).

18:30 The day ends at the traditional Kellergassenfest in Krems/Thallern. Vintners put tables and chairs in front of their charming little cellar houses and offer their wines and regional food. Stroll through the cellar lined alley and have a Grüner Veltliner here and a Riesling there.
