RSVP IS REQUIRED &#8211; Space limited<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Adrian\u00a0Farrell, Consul General of Ireland,\u00a0welcomes\u00a0us\u00a0on Thursday,\u00a0May\u00a05, to the Irish Consulate General, 515 Congress Avenue, Suite 1720 for a discussion of\u00a0<\/strong><strong>The Good Country Index.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Good Country Index measures how much each of the 125 countries on the list contributes to the planet and the human race, with relation to its size.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Almost all other indexes measure country performance in isolation: \u00a0whether it\u2019s economic growth, stability, justice, transparency, good governance, productivity, democracy, freedom, or even happiness, it\u2019s mostly measured as internal performance.\u00a0 The Good Country Index attempts to measure the global impacts of policies and behaviors, what they contribute to the \u201cglobal commons\u201d, and what they take away.\u00a0 This forms a truer and more realistic global balance-sheet than one which\u00a0may\u00a0error by treating each country as its own private planet.\u00a0 The concept of the Good Country is about encouraging populations and their governments to be more outward looking, and to consider the international consequences of their national behavior.<\/p>\n<p>The Index measures 35 data points. \u00a0<strong>Consul General\u00a0Farrell<\/strong>\u00a0will use several of the data points as a basis to discuss Ireland.<br \/>\n<strong>The Irish Consulate General in Austin<\/strong>\u00a0was established in the fall of 2014 marking\u00a0<strong>the first European country to form a consulate in Austin.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0It is designed to support Irish citizens living in the area as well as advance economic initiatives, promote tourism, and develop educational links with Ireland.<br \/>\n<strong>Adrian\u00a0Farrell<\/strong>\u00a0is a veteran Irish diplomat who has previously worked in Germany and Turkey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reception Hosted by Consul General\u00a0Farrell\u00a0will follow the presentation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"cornersContainer\">Organized by GlobalAustin.<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearEndContainer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"cornersContainer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"clearEndContainer\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Meet\u00a0Adrian\u00a0Farrell, Consul General of Ireland \u2013 Learn about the Good Country Index and Why Ireland is #1 on the GCI!
