The conversation will be moderated by Delia Ungureanu, Assistant Professor at the University of Bucharest and Visiting Lecturer in Harvard\u2019s Department of Comparative Literature.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free and open to the public | Reception (wine, beer, and small bites) and book-signing to follow.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mircea C\u0103rt\u0103rescu was born in 1956. One of the foremost contemporary novelists and poets of Romania\u2019s 1970s \u201cBlue Jeans Generation,\u201d his work was always strongly influenced by American writing in opposition to the official Communist ideology. C\u0103rt\u0103rescu is the winner of the Romanian Writers\u2019 Union Prize, the Romanian Academy\u2019s Prize, and the 1992 nominee for the Prix M\u00e8dicis, among other awards. His previous novel Nostalgia was published by New Directions. He currently lives in Bucharest.<\/p>\n<p>This event takes place as part of our \u201cEuropean Voices\u201d series \u2013 an ongoing series of conversations with artists and writers, activists and intellectuals exploring questions at the intersection of politics and culture.
