Tennis and Wine & Cheese Mixer
The following event is being organized by our member Max Voltchenko. Please RSVP to email@example.com
Dear Fellow Athletes,
I am excited to invite everyone to a social mixer—racquet sports (tennis and racquetball) and wine & cheese party—on Saturday, November 12.
The tennis part will be a mixed doubles (man & woman against man & woman), round robin type tournament for approx. 2.5 hours. The play will be casual and informal. Please bring your own equipment.
If you have not held a racquet in your hands since high school (or kindergarten), that’s OK. The skill level does not matter. What counts is participation and the social aspect, although there will be prizes for best (and “not-so-bestâ€) players. If you do not want to play, you can still come and watch (or perhaps be an umpire or line judge) and network at the wine & cheese reception.
Also, you do not need to have a partner. In fact, the formula of the tournament is to make sure that you play with and against as many people as possible. This is the perfect way to meet new people!
The racquetball tournament will depend on how many people sign up.
As mentioned, the tournament(s) will follow with a wine & cheese reception so that everyone can mingle.
Who should come?
Speaking from personal experience, a tennis party is a great place to meet new people, to make new friends and to find a tennis partner. While there will be many singles at this event, couples are more than welcome. I expect a diverse crowd: from young professionals to law firm partners. Level of play will vary from 0 to USTA 4.5.
The party will be at Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club in South Jersey, which is about 20 minutes away by car from Center City. The directions will follow soon. For those who live in Center City without cars, we will try to arrange car pools. Please let me know in advance if you need transportation.
We will start around 5:00 pm and finish around 9:00 pm.
To play tennis the cost will be approx. $35-40.
To play racquetball – approx. $25-30 or even less (if many sign up).
To watch and cheer and for wine&cheese and networking–$10-15.
Please let me know if you will come (and how many people you will bring) by Tuesday, October 25. The reserved tennis courts can accommodate 24 people. Since extra courts may be unavailable, this event is on a “first come first served†basis. I will need firm RSVP from you and payment sometime toward the end of October.
If you have questions or comments, please email to . Please note that it may take me a couple of days to respond but I will respond.
