Join renowned Norman Weinstein on a guided tour of one of Brooklyn’s most fascinating ethnic enclaves – “Little Odessa” – where Russian is the language of the day. The shops display an incredible variety of sausages, cheeses, smoked fish, pickled vegetables, cured meats, delicious cakes, breads, and Eastern European preserves. You’ll also explore the famous boardwalk along the Atlantic Ocean and the area’s fascinating architecture.
Have a light breakfast at home, because at 12-noon you’ll have a substantial “sampler” lunch at one of the famous Russian restaurants. In the unlikely event that you are still hungry, you can sample the wares of the street food vendors along the tour path. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Make sure you carry a bag, because you’ll want to buy some food to bring back home.
General Directions: Take the Q train to the Brighton Beach stop. From Midtown Manhattan it should take you about 1hr of train time, so plan accordingly.
The tour will conclude around 2pm. A specific meeting point will be sent only to those who have paid in advance.

Normally this tour would cost you $80. But through the special EuroCircle arrangement you pay only $50 per person. You must both REGISTER and PAY to attend this event. ONLY THOSE WHO HAVE PAID IN ADVANCE WILL BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND. You will receive full details of the meeting point upon your payment. Remember to include the names of all the people for whom you are paying. We provide NO REFUNDS unless: a) you give us AT LEAST 72-hours advance notice, AND b) we can find a replacement for you.

About the Tour Guide:
Norman Weinstein is the founder of Norman Weinstein’s Brooklyn Cooking School. He has spent a quarter of a century spreading the gospel of great food. A former professional musician and voice teacher, Weinstein founded Norman Weinstein’s Hot Wok, the original incarnation of his cooking school, to teach New Yorkers about authentic Asian cuisine. He has written two books on the subject – Wok Dishes (Barron’s), nominated for an IACP Cookbook Award, and Chinese Cooking: The Classical Techniques Made Easy (Newsletter). He is a member of the faculty at LaGuardia Community College, a semi-annual guest instructor at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, and a longtime regular at The New School Culinary Arts Program, former Peter Kump’s New York Cooking School (The Culinary Institute) De Gustibus, and a host of other top cookery venues. When he’s not in the kitchen, Weinstein is busy teaching television audiences about his lifelong passion, leading walking tours of regional cuisine (especially his beloved Brooklyn, like Brighton Beach), and holding tasting dinners at the most intriguing Asian restaurants the city has to offer. And he is a knife skills teacher as well.
